  8. Stir in water and sugar. Boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Use a whisk.
  9. Remove from heat.
  10. CAREFULLY stir in rum (the mixture may splatter).
  11. Prick the top of the cake all over with a toothpick. Basically poking holes for the glaze.
  12. Drizzle the warm glaze over the top and sides. Allow the cake to absorb all of the glaze. Do this slowly. Repeat until all of the glaze is gone.
  13. Allow the cake to cool. Serve.
